Privacy

Last updated 7 September 2026

The short version

  • There is no account. We never ask for your name or your email.
  • Your answers, your bands and your study plan are saved in your own browser, on your own device.
  • Your voice recording is sent to be scored, and then deleted. We do not keep it.
  • No advertising cookies. No analytics that follow you around the web.

What we collect, and for how long

Your voice recording

Where it goes
the scoring services listed below, plus a temporary file on our server while scoring runs
How long we keep it
deleted the moment scoring finishes — success or failure. We keep no copy.

What you type (essays, blocks, drill answers)

Where it goes
Anthropic (Claude), to produce your feedback
How long we keep it
not stored on our servers

Your answers, bands, weak points and plan

Where it goes
your browser's own storage, on your device — it does not reach us
How long we keep it
until you clear your browser data

A technical log of each scoring attempt

Where it goes
our own log, on Vercel
How long we keep it
90 days

The technical log holds the kind of device and browser you used, whether the attempt worked, how long it took, and how large the recording was. It holds no name, no email, no IP address and nothing you said or wrote. We use it to find capture bugs on real phones — not to follow you.

Who processes your work

To score a speaking answer we have to send it out to be analysed. Each service below handles data under its own privacy terms, which we link so you can read them:

  • SpeechAce — scores your pronunciation from the read-aloud step
  • ElevenLabs — turns your speaking answer into text so it can be scored
  • OpenAI — turns your voice into text in the Foundation drill and when you set up your content blocks
  • Anthropic (Claude) — reads the text of what you said or wrote and writes your feedback
  • Google (Gemini) — cross-checks the audio for rhythm and delivery
  • Vercel — hosts the site and stores the technical log below

Cookies and tracking

We set no advertising or analytics cookies, and we run no third-party tracking scripts. The site uses your browser's own storage to remember your work between visits; that data stays on your device.

When accounts arrive

We plan to add sign-in so your work can follow you between devices and so we can send you your report. When that happens this page will be updated first, and we will ask you before we collect anything new. The plan is:

  • Your email and name from sign-in, used to identify your account — nothing else.
  • Your reports and progress kept for 24 months after you last use dIELTS, so the before-and-after comparison still works.
  • Everything deleted within 30 days of you asking us to close your account.
  • No marketing email unless you tick a box asking for it, and every such email will have a working unsubscribe link.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. Today the honest answer is that we hold none that identifies you: your work sits in your browser, so clearing your browser data removes it, and nothing we keep can be traced back to a person.

Write to ept@ivypath.io with any request and we will answer within 30 days, as the law requires. If you are not satisfied with our answer you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Age

dIELTS is built for learners aged 16 and over. Please do not use it if you are younger than 16.
